Mansi “khaCno” Casino: Game Rules
Mzansi ‘khaCno’ Casino is a South African–flavoured card game that brings friends and family together. It’s fast-paced and fun, with bright kasi vibes and a little dash of friendly competition. In each round, players race to capture cards by building clever combos and out-smarting opponents. With clever moves, sneaky steals, and big captures, every hand is packed with drama. Simple to learn but tricky to master, Mzansi Casino brings the spirit of playful competition and local pride to every table
Objective
The goal of Mzansi Casino is to score the most points by capturing cards from the table and forming powerful builds. Players take turns playing one card at a time to collect matching or combined values from the layout. Strategic building and clever captures earn bonus points, especially for key cards like the Ace, Two of Spades, and Ten of Diamonds. At the end of the round, the player or team with the highest score wins the game!
Setup
- Players: 2 or 4 players.
- Cards: A 40-card deck (Aces to 10s only; no picture cards).
- Dealer: First dealer chosen randomly.
- After that, the previous game’s loser shuffles and deals.
Dealing
2 Players: Deal 10 cards each.(first round) Play until cards are finished, then deal another 10 cards each (second round).
4 Players: Deal 10 cards each. Team up with the player sitting opposite you!
Playing:
Clockwise from the dealer, it’s the next player’s turn . On your turn Play exactly one card from your hand. You can either
Capture:
- Match a card in the layout by number (play a 6 to capture a 6).
- Add up cards to match your card’s value (play an 8 to capture a 5 and a 3).
- Capture an existing build if your card matches its value.
Build:
- Create a new build using cards from your hand and the table.
- Add to existing builds to make them stronger.
Steal:
- In special cases, you can steal an opponent’s captured card by adding it into your own build!
Trail:
- If you can’t capture or build (or choose not to), place one card into the layout.
Important:
- If you have a build, you must either add to it or capture it — no simple drifting allowed (except in the round 2 of 2-player games).
Scoring:
At the end of the game:
- Most cards captured: 2 points (1 point each if tied).
- Five or more Spades: 1 point.
- Two of Spades: 1 point.
- Ten of Diamonds: 2 points.
- Each Ace captured: 1 point.
